General information

Moscow International Business Association was founded on November, 19 1997. At the beginning MIBA counted 30 companies members from 11 countries of the world.

Today it unites 200 companies, banks, enterprises from 23 countries.

MIBA unique character lies in the fact that it is a multiprofessional  organization and includes Russian and Foreign companies, workingin the Capital City and in Regions, big, medium and small firms, wich reflects practically the whole spectrum of the business community of Moscow and Russia. MIBA’s Executive board includes representatives of the government (federal? Regional and local – executive and legislative branches alike) and the business community (Russian and Foreign alike).

From 1997 till 2010 Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov was the President of the Association.  From the October  2012 Mikhail Barshchevskiy the Represenrative of the Government of the Russian Federation in the highest Courts authorities  was reflected as MIBA’s President ву the General Assembly.

International and inter regional connections of MIBA are maintained trough a network of 11 overseas and 30 regional representatives. MIBA also actively co operate with other business associations: Commerce and Industry chambers of Russia and Moscow, National Trade Association, Association of Russian banks and Moscow banks union, the Russian council of trade centers, Union of German economy etc. ). From 2002 MIBA joined Association of the entrepreneurs of the European capital cities (OPCE). Alexander Borisov is the member of OPCE Board of Directors. From 2003 MIBA co operate with the International association of business communicators (IABC).

Alexander Borisov is MIBA General Director. At the same time he is Member of the Board of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Member of Expert’s council on Trade at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Member of the Consultative Board on Custom’s Policy at the Federal Customs Service and member of Public-Advisory council at the Federal Antimonopoly Service. All of this gives the possibility to extend MIBA’s ability to defend the interests of its members.

Annually MIBA is organizing alone or with partners 70 – 80 events, the most important of them is international investment forum “Moscow-Invest”. It took place in London (1998), Moscow (1999 and 2003),Tel-Aviv(2000), Berlin (2001),Milan (2002),Abu-Dhabi (2004), Munich(2006), London (2007), Vienna (2008) , Shanghai (2009), Paris (2010), Munich (2011). Every year MIBA is also organizing business  forum  on Land and Retail issues in Moscow and Construction forum in Cannes.

Each year MIBA is receiving around 600 requests from its members, related to various fields of their activity, including projects of interest for the city and its citizens as well as legal issues proposals, complaints about actions of authorities of different levels, requests to speed up some decisions or to help to solve various problems in different city, regional or federal services. Each request is being considered together with specialists from the state or municipal bodies and, if needed is being reported to the Mayor of Moscow, to the Chairman of the federal Government or Federal Ministers, heads of Federal services and agencies. About 2/3 of all requests get complete or partial solution. For the period of MIBA activity its foreign members only managed to attract to Moscow and to Russia more than $20 billions of direct investments.

All these years MIBA has been successfully playing role of interface between administrations of all levels and business community of Moscow and Russia, acting under slogan “Business – Government — Direct Dialog”.
